3. Vector map tiles

SunnyDaysApp uses vector map tiles from OpenFreeMap / OpenMapTiles / OpenStreetMap-based data.

Source Use Attribution Technical URL / reference
OpenFreeMap Vector tile delivery / map tile source. © OpenFreeMap openfreemap.org
OpenMapTiles Vector tile schema / map data structure where used through OpenFreeMap tiles. © OpenMapTiles openmaptiles.org
OpenStreetMap Underlying community map data for vector maps. © OpenStreetMap contributors

Vector tile URL used by the SunnyDaysApp pipeline

The SunnyDaysApp tile pipeline uses this vector tile source pattern:

https://tiles.openfreemap.org/planet/20251231_001001_pt/{z}/{x}/{y}.pbf

4. Elevation and terrain tiles

SunnyDaysApp uses Terrain Tiles in Terrarium encoding for elevation, terrain, hillshade, elevation-profile or route-related terrain calculations where applicable.

Source Use Attribution / license note Reference
Terrain Tiles on AWS Global terrain/elevation tiles in Terrarium format. Terrain Tiles by Mapzen, a Linux Foundation project. Terrain Tiles are based on multiple public terrain/elevation sources and require attribution to relevant source datasets. AWS Open Data Registry — Terrain Tiles
Mapzen / Tilezen joerd attribution Required terrain source attribution guidance. Attribution requirements vary by source region. For SunnyDaysApp’s launch region, relevant references may include Austrian DGM data, Copernicus EU-DEM layers and other terrain sources listed by Mapzen. Mapzen Terrain attribution

DEM tile URL used by the SunnyDaysApp pipeline

The SunnyDaysApp tile pipeline uses this terrain tile source pattern:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/elevation-tiles-prod/terrarium/{z}/{x}/{y}.png

Terrain source notices

  • Austria terrain data © offene Daten Österreichs – Digitales Geländemodell (DGM) Österreich.
  • Europe terrain data produced using Copernicus data and information funded by the European Union — EU-DEM layers.
  • United States 3DEP, global GMTED2010 and SRTM terrain data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey.
  • Global ETOPO1 terrain data: U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Additional terrain attributions may apply if SunnyDaysApp expands coverage beyond Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

5. Weather data and forecast layers

SunnyDaysApp uses weather information to help users plan sunny outdoor days. This may include cloud layers, temperature layers, forecast tiles, forecast-derived calculations and GRIB weather inputs.

Source / category Use in SunnyDaysApp Attribution / note
Meteoblue Weather tiles/data, especially cloud-related weather layers where used by SunnyDaysApp. Weather data and visual layers may be provided by or derived from Meteoblue services. Provider-specific attribution and contract wording should be kept aligned with the final Meteoblue product/API/tile setup.
GRIB weather files Temperature and forecast-related inputs used by SunnyDaysApp’s weather/tile pipeline. GRIB model/source attribution depends on the final public weather model/source used in the production pipeline. SunnyDaysApp should keep this entry updated with the exact model provider and required license text.

6. Satellite, imagery and open-data tiles

SunnyDaysApp uses ArcGIS Location Platform World Imagery as its online satellite basemap. The attribution shown with the live map is:

Powered by Esri | Sources: Esri, Vantor, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community

World Imagery attribution can vary as its source mosaic changes. SunnyDaysApp therefore also reads the provider attribution supplied by its production map-source configuration and displays it in the map's compact attribution control.

Where official country data, satellite data or open-data sources are processed into SunnyDaysApp tiles, the original source providers retain their own licenses and attribution rights. If a tile or layer is based on multiple inputs, several attributions may apply at the same time.

Before adding more countries, this page should be updated with the exact source providers, license names and required attribution text for those countries.

7. App stores, accounts, ads and infrastructure

SunnyDaysApp also uses third-party services for distribution, accounts, advertising, hosting, storage, email and app operation.

9. Icons, fonts, screenshots and images

SunnyDaysApp app icons, website visuals, marketing screenshots, product screenshots and custom SunnyDaysApp graphics are created for SunnyDaysApp unless otherwise stated.

App-store screenshots and website screenshots may show map, weather, terrain, satellite or route data. Those visible layers remain subject to the data-source attributions listed on this page.

If third-party stock images, icon packs, fonts or illustration libraries are added later, this page should be updated with their required license notices.

10. Data changes, processing and derived outputs

SunnyDaysApp may simplify, transform, style, cache, tile, compress, merge, calculate from or otherwise process third-party data to make it usable inside the app.

Processing may include:

  • tile generation and tile compression;
  • route graph generation;
  • elevation profile calculation;
  • map styling and feature filtering;
  • weather layer preparation;
  • satellite or terrain layer preparation;
  • country-specific packaging for Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Where a license requires notice of modifications, SunnyDaysApp treats processed, styled, combined, tiled or derived data as modified data.

11. No endorsement

Mention of a provider, public authority, open-data source, map project, weather provider, app store or infrastructure provider does not mean that SunnyDaysApp is endorsed, certified, sponsored or approved by that provider unless this is explicitly stated.
